BWI sucks
Add Baltimore/Washington airport to the cheapskate list. They charge because they can. I pay so I can get access and complain about it.
manchester
Manchester airport in New Hampshire offers free wifi. Why do those sorry SOBs in Chicago and elsewhere charge?

SF Writers security.
Science Fiction writers offer suggestions (and rants) concerning security.
Sweet!
“It is impossible for you to succeed without us!” he shouted at the assembled officials, while banging his fist on the table and at one point jumping off his chair to wave a mobile phone in their faces.
Sweet!
lame
I've been lame in posting. I have a propensity for it and that was the primary reason for having a challenge. Thankfully, Jay's up to the task of boxing my ears and getting me back on track.

clonism
Not clones, but muscular tremors. Experiencing this on a frequent basis when I deeply relax. And it's not that jump when falling asleep, though similar.

detox
My blog entry yesterday was like Jesus in the tomb on Easter morning.
Xtian jokes aside, had a wonderful realization concerning the symbiotic effects of environment and thoughts....namely clutter. Even though I knew it, it's still amazing how a clean desk helps clear the mind.
I wasn't consciously aware of Mozilla themes until I switched to Firefox 3b4 and mine went MIA. 3b5 is right around the corner. 3 seems faster...and type-ahead is different....as I use it, more changes will become apparent (oooh! just remembered xul apps will be easier to start with xul application runtime! yes there's downsides to the approach, but the barrier is nice and low)

which way does she turn
She's over on the right (for now). Check her out. Which way does she turn? See if you can make her turn the opposite direction.

letting go
I was told by a person who was (and to an extent still is) important to me that "we need to talk about letting go."
Let go of the previous relationship we had
Let go of the thought we will have a future relationship that was like the previous one
Let go of the name of the relationship we had
Let go of the communication channels we once had
Let go of the feelings we shared
Let go of the memories
Let go of the influence
Let go of the material possessions
Let go of communicating
Return to the void.
As if that were possible.
The cycle of rebirth maintains a certain kind of continuity.
I let go... not to forget, but to transcend.

configuration management
I'm thinking of using forms to manage configs that I cannot get a good export for. Seems better than a screenshot...oh...well, at least less space requirement.
Note to self: allow users to make a backups of application configurations to store and restore. ESPECIALLY if it is a gui based config.

Consciousness Studies
I haven't looked at Hammeroff and Penrose in a long time. Feeling the desire to revisit. Also feeling the desire to revisit psychobiology of hypnosis. Missing Dr. Hyatt...

10k step progress
I am really digging google docs now. Need to modify the blog side panel to embed my step progress, and google makes it easy to generate the embedded html link with their publishing options. And something about forms in spreadsheets has me hot and bothered. Is it because we normally have huge proprietary applications with database backends that nobody can modify to get their information easily?

acting risks pt 1
So me and my acting buddy, Chuck, are doing a scene for a class. We weren't able to decide which scene until late the night before. We watched an episode of Californication and decided that was the one to do. Sure, the absinthe may have had a part to play here but that isn't important.
We did the scene to muted horror from our classmates. There may have been an uncomfortable chuckle from someone in the class of 10 or so actors-in-training.
I figured some of my admittedly poorer performance was due to nervousness. Normally Mona (our instructor) gives direction and the scene, or parts of it, are performed a few times. Not this time though.
Mona did not care for the scene. At all. No redeeming qualities. Is that the kind of character you see yourself playing? Would you do this kind of thing? Bad scene and bad acting. Neither one of you are believable. The agents are female and this does not play to them. Some of the students jumped on the bandwagon and clamored on about the misogyny and sleaze of the show and characters. One of the better actresses in the class though, a beautiful yoga instructor, said she likes toilet humor and thought it funny.
Chuck and I took it in stride. We made a couple of jokes about it, but were unapologetic. I felt sort of proud that we found and did a scene that pushed the limits of our abilities and the guarded sensibilities of a few people in the class. And I do love Mona and her honesty. She has good business sense where acting is concerned and that is appreciated.
After we were done being dressed down, I asked if she was sure she didn't want us to do it again.
She was quite sure.

10000 steps
I bought a pedometer 2 days ago. I wanted to see just how much I walk per day. Then I see something about walking 10,000 steps per day so now I have a goal. I could tell my baseline was falling short so instead of a one mile walk, I took it and a 3 mile walk.
End of the day: 9775 steps.
Not even going to be close today. And all this time I thought I wasn't sedentary.

the challenge
So, my friend Jay and I have a little challenge:
Blog each day to get into the habit...at least one sentence and one link.
Whew...that was tough!
